Born: November 9, 1945, Khoroshevka village, Gomel region. Education: Leningrad Plekhanov Mining Institute as mining engineer and economist; Leningrad Higher Party School. Ph. D. in economics 1962 -- 1967: Workman at Gomselmash plant 1967 -- 1970: Various positions at the Vorkutaugol mines 1970 -- 1990: Work for the Komsomol and the Communist party. Top career achievement: First Secretary of the Vorkuta Communist Party Committee 1990 -- 1996: Deputy Chief Executive at Vorkutaugol plant. Elected Deputy of the Vorkuta City Council and the State Council of the Komi Republic 1996 - December 1997: Leningrad Region Vice -- Governor for Industry, Fuel and Energy Sector, Forestry, and Natural Resources December 1997 -- September 1998: First Vice -- Governor of the Leningrad Region September 18, 1997: Appointed Acting Governor of the Leningrad Region after Governor V. A. Gustov was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Government by a President's Decree. Hobbies: chess, traveling, and reading fiction and philosophy books The Governor is married and has two sons. In September 1999, Valery Pavlovich Serdyukov was elected Governor of the Leningrad Region.
In September 2002, Valery Serdyukov was re-elected as Governor of the Leningrad Region. And in july 2007, Valery Serdyukov was re-elected as Governor of the Leningrad Region. |
