The leading crops in the Leningrad region are potatoes. Most of the sorts have been selected in Russia. The Nevsky sort has been released in 70 regions of Russia. AOZT Rapti in the Luga district has achieved a yield of 26.2 tons per hectare, and AOZT Gomontovo in the Volosovo district can boast 18.2 tons per hectare. There are new sorts being reproduced. The new Elizaveta sort provides for an 18-ton per hectare yield, and the Peterburgsky sort for a 19.2-ton yield.
AOZT AgroBalt is using Dutch potato growing technology, which guarantees a yield of 16 - 20 tons per hectare, whereas the regional average is 13 tons.
AOZT Prinevskoye and Ruchyi are using Dutch technology that guarantees a carrot yield of 30 to 40 tons per hectare, a cabbage yield of up to 43 tons per hectare, and a beet yield of 20 to 28 tons per hectare, and reduces the labor costs by half.
20 farms in the Leningrad Region have employed a highly-advanced German fodder plant made by the Krona company, which presses the fodder into rolls and packs it in polymer film. The technology allows farmers to mow the stand in optimal time, increases the nutritional value of the foodstuff, reduces the manual labor costs, and works under any weather conditions. |
